If you are going to a cartoon themed costume party a Danger Mouse costume could be just the costume for you. Danger Mouse is a hugely popular British cartoon series, made in the 1980’s, featuring a mouse who works as a secret agent, known as Danger Mouse (voiced by actor David Jason).
Danger Mouse is a white mouse who wears an eye patch over one eye, a red belt and has the initials ‘DM’ emblazoned across his chest in yellow and red. There are plenty of Danger Mouse costumes available to buy, which include a full mouse head mask and white mouse body suit.
You can even get an officially licenced deluxe Danger Mouse costume, which includes a furry white one-piece jumpsuit with a short collar, rear zipper, gold effect trademark ‘DM’ logo on the left breast and attached furry white shoe covers. You also get a red and yellow Danger Mouse belt that fastens using Velcro and will fit up to a 40″ waist. Also included with this official costume is a deluxe overhead Danger Mouse mask featuring the trademark black eye patch and a pair of furry white gloves.
It is a brilliant costume to transform yourself into a true 80’s icon! You can also buy slightly less deluxe costumes that cost less but still look exactly like the ‘White Wonder’ himself. Alternatively you can buy a Danger Mouse full head mask separately and make the rest of the costume yourself.
You can also get Danger Mouse masks for children and full Danger Mouse costumes for children, in sizes small (age 3-5 years or 110cm tall), medium (age 6-8 years or 130cm tall), and large (age 9-12 years or 150cm tall).
Danger Mouse’s sidekick was a shy hamster called Penfold, who was often mistaken for a mole. Penfold always wore thick round glasses, and a blue suit with a white shirt, and a yellow and black stripy tie.
There are some great Penfold costumes available to buy as well, but this could be easier to make yourself than a Danger Mouse costume, as you just require a blue suit and white shirt with a yellow and black striped tie. You can then add some joke glasses without real lenses, and a black hamster nose.
You could buy some round Harry Potter glasses or some joke nerd spectacles that look like they have thick lenses in them. You can also easily get accessories like animal noses, or you could paint a hamster nose on with black face paint.
Both Danger Mouse and Penfold costumes look brilliant, and if you are going to a costume party with someone it would look fantastic to go as pair - one person as ‘Chief’ (as Penfold called Danger Mouse) and one person as sidekick, Penfold.
Danger Mouse the series was first broadcast in 1981 so Danger Mouse became a classic 80’s cartoon icon. A Danger Mouse costume is therefore perfect for a cartoon theme or an 80’s theme costume party.
