If you don’t remember the popular 80’s cartoon of He-Man and The Masters of The Universe, then She Ra may not be ideal for you. She Ra is basically He-Man’s twin sister! The She Ra: Princess of Power animated TV series was a spin-off of the hugely successful He-Man series. It was launched in 1985 and aimed at an audience of young girls to offer them an equivalent to He-Man’s popularity with young boys.
Both He-Man and She Ra are based on a line of toys created by Mattell. The She Ra: Princess Of Power animated series is about the adventures of She Ra, the leader of a group of freedom fighters called the Great Rebellion, who are trying to free their home world of Etheria, from the brutal rule of Hordak and the Evil Horde.
She Ra is the alter ego of Princess Adora, the twin sister of Prince Adam of Eternia (He-Man). She Ra is first introduced as Force Captain Adora, an agent of the Evil Horde, in the The Secret of the Sword animated movie. She soon discovers that she is the long-lost twin sister of Prince Adam, but she was stolen by Hordak when she was a baby.
She is then granted the Sword of Protection, which is equal to He-Man’s Sword of Power, and acquires the power to transform into She Ra. She then joins the rebellion as Princess Adora and only a few characters know that she is also actually She Ra.
As She Ra she wears a short white dress with a bodice top, with a gold motif in the centre and a gold belt at the waist, a red cape, a gold headpiece with a ruby in the centre, a gold choker necklace, gold wrist guards, knee length boots and she carries a sword. She has very long, flowing blonde hair.
Her outfit makes for such a fantastic costume as it is fairly easy to make or there are some great ready-made, complete She Ra costumes available to buy. You then just need to buy a long, blonde wig to go with it. You can also easily get a plastic sword to go with your costume.
A She Ra costume is the perfect super hero costume for women as it is sexy and fun, and less common than some other super hero costumes, such as a Wonder Woman costume.
