If you’re looking for wrestling costumes you probably want a costume based on a WWE star but there are other forms for wrestling as well. Obviously WWE is huge and wrestling costumes are very popular because of this. Just think of some of the most famous names, like Hulk Hogan, The Rock and The Undertaker. If you’re not a WWE fan you’ve probably heard of these stars at least!
WWE wrestlers wear varied costumes based on their name and persona, but they tend to be tight, bright and loud. If you’ve never watched any WWE you might have seen Hulk Hogan’s series featuring his family, in which he often gets his costumes out to look at.
Another easy way to get an idea for a costume is to search for WWE and go to the official website. You’ll see all the current stars there, as well as the infamous retired wrestlers in the Hall of Fame.
If you are looking for wrestling costumes for women there are plenty of female wrestlers, known as Divas. Their costumes also tend t be tight and very minimal! Alternatively you can get lots of female referee costumes, although most of these are sexy referee costumes as they consist of short skirts or hot pants, with a black and white striped referee’s top.
There are some excellent, and very funny, male wrestling costumes available to buy, such as the Pedro Costume. This is a fiery Mexican wrestling costume consisting of a bright orange sleeveless jumpsuit with muscles on the chest, a cape, wrist guards, boot covers, a full headpiece and yellow and black briefs that are worn over the jumpsuit! It looks like one of the outfits worn by Jack Black in the film Nacho Libre.
Another costume pretty much like an exact costume from Nacho Libre is the
Sancho costume, which includes a white sleeveless jumpsuit with muscles, a cape, wrist guards, boot covers, a headpiece and red briefs. Both of these costumes are brilliant fun and will look superb for a wrestling themed fancy dress party.
Another kind of wrestling is Sumo wrestling and you can get some very funny inflatable sumo wrestler costumes. They consist of an inflatable nylon bodysuit with a small fan inside the costume to inflate it for that fat feel! To go with the fat suit you can get a samurai wig for a really authentic feel.
If you want to create your own wrestler costume with a pair of brightly coloured, shiny lycra tights and maybe a head mask, you can get a padded muscle shirt to wear on top to give the impression of a ripped torso. This way you could choose a wrestler and base the colours you choose on his costumes.
Following the success of the film The Wrestler, starring Mickey Rourke, wrestling costumes have become even more popular than they already were based on the fame of WWE. Kids and adults alike love wrestling and it makes a fantastic theme for fancy dress as it is theatrical and over-the-top.
